My Thoughts on Picked up a Strange Knight
"Picked up a Strange Knight" is a delightful little gem of a story that completely charmed me. It's a fluffy, heartwarming tale that follows Azusa, a somewhat cynical salaryman, and Ilias, a knight who's suddenly appeared in his life. Their cohabitation and eventual romance make for an incredibly enjoyable read.
First Impressions
From the very beginning, I was drawn in by the contrast between the two main characters. Azusa's snarky inner monologue and Ilias's earnest wonder at the modern world create a dynamic that's both hilarious and endearing. The initial chapters, where Ilias learns about things like showers and TVs, are pure gold. I found myself chuckling along at their interactions.
What Works Well
What truly shines in this novel is the development of the relationship between Azusa and Ilias. The story is full of "aww" moments, and I was completely invested in their romance. Ilias's devotion to Azusa is incredibly sweet, and watching Azusa slowly let his guard down was equally satisfying. The pacing felt just right, not too fast and not too slow, allowing their feelings to develop naturally. Plus, when the story ramps up into steamier territory, it's handled with a great level of detail.
