Who it's for, and whether it holds up.
My Thoughts on Ore, Twintail ni Narimasu.
This novel? Well, it's certainly something. I went into it knowing very little, and I came out the other side both bewildered and strangely entertained. "Ore, Twintail ni Narimasu." is an experience, that's for sure.
First Impressions
Okay, let's be real: the premise is bonkers. A guy obsessed with twintails transforms into a twintailed girl to fight monsters powered by, you guessed it, twintails. It's the kind of concept that makes you wonder what the author had for breakfast that day. My initial reaction was a mix of confusion and morbid curiosity. I couldn't help but dive in.
What Works Well
Despite the sheer absurdity, the series has a certain charm. It's a blend of sentai heroes, magical girls, and romantic comedy, creating a unique flavor that, against all odds, actually works. The action is over-the-top, the humor is self-aware, and the characters, while eccentric, are surprisingly likable. I found myself genuinely invested in their ridiculous battles against the Twintail-obsessed villains. The fact that it doesn't take itself too seriously is definitely one of its strengths. It embraces its weirdness and runs with it, resulting in a surprisingly fun and engaging read.
Areas of Concern
My biggest frustration isn't necessarily with the story itself, but with the translation status. It's a real shame when you get invested in a series only to find that the translation is incomplete or stalled. It leaves you hanging, unable to fully experience the story. I can only hope that someone picks it up again soon, as I'm eager to see where this crazy twintail adventure goes next.
Final Verdict
"Ore, Twintail ni Narimasu." is a bizarre but ultimately enjoyable ride. If you're looking for something serious and profound, this isn't it. But if you're in the mood for a laugh, some over-the-top action, and a healthy dose of absurdity, then I'd recommend giving it a shot. Just be prepared for a truly unique and unforgettable experience.
