My Thoughts on My Girlfriend From Turquoise Pond Requests My Help After My Millennium Seclusion
This title is definitely a mouthful, but after diving into this cultivation story, I can see why it's garnered a dedicated following. It’s a mixed bag, but the overall experience was enjoyable for me.
First Impressions
I went in expecting a fairly standard cultivation novel, but I was pleasantly surprised. The pacing is definitely on the slower side, so if you're looking for constant action and adventure, this might not be your cup of tea. The MC starts out as a pretty chill guy, mainly focused on cultivating and staying out of trouble. However, the arranged marriage really shakes things up, and it's fun to see him slowly come out of his shell.
What Works Well
The romance is a major highlight. It's a slow burn, and the interactions between the MC and his dragon wife are genuinely cute and funny, especially considering their stoic personalities. I really enjoyed watching their relationship develop. The humor is also well-done, with the MC's internal thoughts often providing comedic relief. The story focuses on cultivation, relationship, and the inner workings of the Kunlun sect, and does so without a lot of unnecessary filler, which I appreciated. I also liked that the MC doesn't instantly become the strongest, and his system isn't overpowered. He actually has to work for his strength, which makes his achievements feel more earned.
Areas of Concern
The slow pace, which some consider a strength, can also be a weakness. Some readers might find it boring or lacking in plot development, and there were times when I felt things dragged on a bit. The system, while not overpowered, also feels somewhat underutilized. It's explained later in the story, but it doesn't play a significant role, which feels like a missed opportunity.
⚠️ Spoiler Warning
Some readers have pointed out issues with the ending, calling it rushed and leaving some plot holes unresolved. Questions surrounding the MC's ascension to sagehood, the purpose of certain characters, and the fate of others are left unanswered, which can be frustrating.
Final Verdict
Despite its flaws, I found My Girlfriend From Turquoise Pond Requests My Help After My Millennium Seclusion to be a worthwhile read. If you enjoy slow-paced cultivation stories with a focus on romance, humor, and character interactions, this novel is definitely worth checking out. Just be prepared for a potentially rushed ending and some unanswered questions. I'd give it a solid 4 out of 5 stars.
