Okay, so the title is definitely a mouthful, and it promises a certain kind of story – a deliciously vengeful tale of payback. The initial setup is classic: guy gets cheated on, seeks revenge by targeting the cheater's partner. I dove in expecting some spicy NTR and morally questionable decisions. What I found was… something a little different.
What Works Well
The initial arc, focusing on the discovery of the cheating and the planning of the revenge, is undeniably engaging. There's a certain catharsis in watching the protagonist, Yuu, and his unlikely accomplice, Touko, scheme their way to exposing the infidelity. I really enjoyed Touko's character; she's intelligent, stylish, and seems to be the driving force behind the revenge plot. The author's writing style is easy to get into, making for a quick and accessible read. The initial concept of the story is definitely its strongest point. I found myself rooting for the main characters and eager to see their plan unfold.
Areas of Concern
While the first arc is compelling, the story seems to lose its way afterward. The promised NTR never really materializes; instead, the novel veers sharply into rom-com territory, complete with harem elements and the usual tropes. The revenge itself felt somewhat anticlimactic, and the consequences for the cheating partners weren't explored in much depth. Yuu, the protagonist, can be frustrating at times. He comes across as rather passive and reliant on Touko, lacking the assertiveness I expected from someone seeking revenge. The side characters, including the "villains," feel underdeveloped and stereotypical. Ultimately, the novel feels tonally inconsistent, with the lighthearted rom-com elements clashing with the darker themes implied by the title.
