My Thoughts on My Family’s Idol’s Vest Fell Again
Alright, let's dive into "My Family’s Idol’s Vest Fell Again." This novel is quite the ride, and my experience was...mixed, to say the least. It's definitely not a story for everyone, but it has its charms.
First Impressions
Going in, I knew the protagonist was OP. The synopsis makes it clear, and honestly, I sometimes enjoy a good power fantasy. However, the execution is key, and that's where things get a little bumpy. The premise is that our MC is ridiculously talented in everything. Makeup artist, fashion designer, author, lyricist, composer, singer, painter, musician, actor, hacker, doctor, Go player... the list goes on. He’s basically a Renaissance man on steroids.
What Works Well
For those seeking a light, fluffy read with plenty of face-slapping, this might scratch that itch. The story moves at a decent pace, and the conflicts, while frequent, don't usually drag on too long. There's a certain wish-fulfillment aspect that can be appealing; seeing the MC effortlessly excel in various fields can be satisfying in a mindless sort of way. I found some of the side characters to be likeable, even if they don’t get a ton of screen time. The translation is generally solid, making the reading experience smooth.
Areas of Concern
The biggest issue, for me, is the lack of depth. The MC's backstory is vague, and his motivations are often unclear. Why does he enter a talent show when he already has billions and multiple successful careers? It doesn't quite add up. The romance with the male lead also feels underdeveloped. The ML is essentially a "smart rock" – rich, handsome, and brilliant, but lacking in personality. There's little explanation for his supposed "love at first sight," making the relationship feel forced.
