My Thoughts on My Family Is Very Odd?
"My Family Is Very Odd?" promised a heartwarming supernatural story, and for the most part, it delivered a delightful experience. I dove in expecting a unique blend of genres, and I wasn't disappointed.
First Impressions
The initial chapters hooked me with the adorable premise: a young girl raised by ghosts. It’s a concept ripe with potential for both fluff and poignant moments, and the early stages definitely leaned into the heartwarming aspects. I was immediately invested in Li Xiao Gui's well-being and her unusual family dynamic.
What Works Well
The strength of this novel lies squarely in its familial love. The interactions between Li Xiao Gui and her ghost family are incredibly sweet and touching. The author does a fantastic job of portraying the genuine affection and protectiveness they feel for her. The story also manages to balance the supernatural elements with the romance and familial aspects surprisingly well. While the romance isn't the primary focus, the interactions between the MC and ML are undeniably sweet. Many readers will also find the story to be very cute and light.

While I enjoyed the story overall, I can see where some readers might find fault. The fast-paced nature of the narrative might leave some feeling that certain plot points are underdeveloped or rushed. There is a point where the pacing suffers and the author seems to brute force drama into the story. The romance, while present, could have been more fleshed out after the MC and ML get together. Some may find the FL to be a bit of a Mary Sue, but her positive qualities and the love she receives make it work within the context of the story.
