My Thoughts on Last Days On Earth

"Last Days On Earth" plunges you headfirst into a zombie apocalypse scenario, and after spending some time with it, I've got some thoughts. The initial chapters definitely grabbed my attention, and I'm eager to see where the author takes this story.

First Impressions

The beginning is certainly intriguing. The narrative unfolds at a good pace, taking its time to introduce the characters and establish the setting before unleashing the full horror of the pandemic. The setup feels natural, and I appreciated the deliberate world-building in the early stages. It wasn't an instant hook, but the steady build-up definitely made me want to continue.

What Works Well

The atmosphere of impending doom is palpable, and the author excels at creating a sense of tension and dread. The story focuses on survival, and the logical approach to navigating the zombie-infested world is a major plus. The drama is well-integrated, adding emotional depth without overshadowing the core survival theme. The quality of writing is also commendable, making for a smooth and immersive reading experience. The author's chapter breaks are well-placed, leaving you wanting more. The story is progressing at a nice pace, and the lack of superpowers (so far) keeps the focus on realistic survival strategies.

Areas of Concern

I do have some reservations about the protagonist's characterization. Some of his internal monologues and reactions felt a bit off, particularly his thoughts regarding the female characters. It made it hard to connect with him on a deeper level.

⚠️ Spoiler Warning

Some readers may find the protagonist's actions questionable. For example, his decision not to warn the campus about the water contamination is a significant plot point that might rub some readers the wrong way.

Final Verdict

Overall, "Last Days On Earth" has a lot of potential. The apocalyptic setting is well-crafted, the survival aspects are engaging, and the writing quality is solid. While I have some reservations about certain character choices, the strengths of the story outweigh the weaknesses. If you're a fan of zombie narratives with a focus on realism and character drama, this might be worth checking out. I'm giving it a tentative thumbs up and will continue reading to see how the story evolves.

Synopsis

When God left and refused to intervene with human affairs, he left a prophecy of the end of the world. “When the time of magic draws to a close, the world will collapse and everything will fall into chaos.” Man created a civilization so advanced because of their wisdom but they were doomed to be cursed. After all, intelligence is a gift and a curse. Then a virus came like a thief in the night and brought an outbreak, an apocalypse. This advent brought an era of lawlessness, decay of morality, and a world struck by a pandemic. When everyone is left to fend for themselves, be prepared to die.
