My Thoughts on I Was Reincarnated
"I Was Reincarnated" had a lot of potential, and while it hooked me initially, the story ultimately fell short of my expectations. The premise, a lazy delinquent reincarnated as a powerful Demon God, sounded like a recipe for fun, but the execution left me wanting more.
First Impressions
The early chapters were definitely intriguing. I was drawn in by the MC's uncaring attitude and the initial setup of his new life as a demon king. The idea of a powerful being just wanting to laze around and enjoy life was pretty appealing, and I was curious to see where the story would go.
What Works Well
The initial world-building had some promise, and the author presented an interesting take on the dynamic between heroes, demons, and gods. Some readers really enjoyed the humor and found the MC's antics funny, and the translation was praised for its quality. There were moments of lightheartedness and the occasional glimpse of something deeper beneath the surface.
Areas of Concern
Unfortunately, the negatives started to outweigh the positives as I read further. One of my biggest issues was the lack of a compelling plot. The story meandered, and I felt like there wasn't a clear direction. The characters, especially the male lead, suffered from a lack of development. He devolved into a whiny, jealous character, which was a major turn-off. The romance felt shallow and based more on dominance than genuine affection. The MC's manipulative tendencies also made it hard to root for him. The constant switching of POVs became repetitive and added unnecessary filler. Ultimately, the story felt disjointed and lacked substance.

Several readers pointed out that the MC's relationship with the male lead becomes increasingly toxic, with elements of emotional manipulation and possessiveness. The MC's past lover's actions are also seen as a result of the toxic relationship. The male lead is also described as a crybaby who is jealous and insecure.
Final Verdict
Despite a promising start, "I Was Reincarnated" didn't deliver on its potential. The weak plot, underdeveloped characters, and problematic relationships ultimately made it a disappointing read for me. While some might enjoy the initial humor and the overpowered MC, I found the story lacking in depth and substance. I can't really recommend this one unless you're looking for something to read passively without expecting much in terms of plot or character development.
