My Thoughts on I Want to Waste Away Time With You
"I Want to Waste Away Time With You" promised a fluffy and sweet romance, and for the most part, it delivered. It's the kind of story you can easily get lost in if you're looking for a lighthearted read. However, it wasn't without its flaws.
First Impressions
Right off the bat, I was drawn in by the premise: a simple girl falls for a famous voice actor, and he happens to fall for her too. It's a classic setup, and I was hoping for a delightful journey. The initial chapters definitely had that "kyaaaa" factor, making me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
What Works Well
The straightforwardness of the leads is a definite plus. There's something refreshing about characters who know what they want and aren't afraid to go after it. The male lead, despite being aloof, is incredibly caring and affectionate towards the female lead. And the female lead, while a bit insecure, ultimately strives for her own happiness. The relationship between the two is portrayed as beautifully healthy, which is always a treat to read. The novel is also very similar to "Really Really Miss You" which is always a plus in my book.
Areas of Concern
However, the pacing felt off at times. The plot can feel strangely paced, with nothing happening for a long stretch, followed by sudden, jarring developments. The female lead's characterization also proved to be a bit divisive. Some found her cute and endearing, while others found her frustratingly timid and even a bit "slow." I can see both sides, and I think it ultimately comes down to personal preference. Some found her to be a bit of a stalker in the beginning which is concerning.

Some people have said that the male lead falls too hard and too fast for the female lead, making the relationship feel somewhat unrealistic. The timeline from their first meeting to becoming a couple is incredibly short, leaving little room for proper buildup or chemistry. The female lead's motivations for liking the male lead are also somewhat superficial, as her attraction is primarily based on his voice and later his good looks.
Final Verdict
Overall, "I Want to Waste Away Time With You" is a decent read if you're looking for something fluffy and brainless to pass the time. It's not a masterpiece, but it has its charms. However, be prepared for some pacing issues, a somewhat frustrating female lead, and a rushed romance. I'd recommend it if you're in the mood for something light and sweet, but don't expect a deeply complex or unforgettable story.
