My Thoughts on I Love Farming
"I Love Farming" is definitely a unique web novel experience. It's a comedy with a slow-burn romance that unfolds as the MC ridiculously tries to take over as much land as possible to plant, plant, plant. It's a chill and comedic read if you love the farming and slice-of-life genre.
First Impressions
Going in, I knew farming would be a central theme, but I wasn't prepared for just how much farming there would be. It's safe to say that the title doesn't lie. The story is set in a futuristic society where our MC contains the blood of an ancient emperor, triggering an insatiable urge to farm. This leads him to star in a virtual reality show where he can indulge his agricultural desires across different worlds.
What Works Well
The comedic undertones are definitely a highlight. The audience reactions to the MC's farming antics are hilarious, and I found myself laughing out loud at some of the outrageous situations he gets into. I enjoyed the unique settings in each arc, which include a school campus, a medieval world, an ABO world, and a cultivation world.
The MC's cold and stoic personality, driven solely by his desire to farm, is strangely endearing. He's almost robotic in his dedication, which leads to some absurd and funny scenarios. The author's writing style is engaging, and the detailed descriptions of farming and cooking are surprisingly captivating.
Areas of Concern
The sheer amount of farming can be overwhelming at times. While I appreciated the detailed descriptions, it sometimes felt like the plot was secondary to the agricultural aspects. The romance is a very slow burn, and the ML has minimal presence until near the end. If you're looking for a romance-heavy story, this might not be for you.
⚠️ Spoiler Warning
Some readers may be put off by the ABO arc, but it's mostly just a background setting and doesn't heavily influence the plot. The ML is the MC's cat, Xiao Bai, which is revealed later in the story.
Final Verdict
Overall, "I Love Farming" is a fun and lighthearted read that's perfect for those who enjoy slice-of-life stories with a heavy emphasis on farming and cooking. While the romance is minimal and the plot can be repetitive, the comedic elements and unique settings make it an enjoyable experience. If you're looking for something different and don't mind a lot of farming, give this novel a try.
