My Thoughts on I Became A Mighty Lion
"I Became A Mighty Lion" certainly roars with potential, offering a refreshing take on the reincarnation genre by placing us directly into the paws of a lion. The premise alone is enough to pique interest, and for a good chunk of the story, it delivers on that promise. However, the journey isn't without its stumbles.
First Impressions
Initially, I was hooked by the unique concept. A lion protagonist navigating a xianxia-esque world? Sign me up! The early chapters were engaging, and I found myself invested in the MC's growth and survival in the wild. The world-building stood out, painting a vivid picture of the lion's world and the challenges he faced.
What Works Well
The side characters are a major highlight. The author seems to excel at crafting memorable personalities and their interactions felt genuine. I particularly enjoyed the dynamics between the MC and his pride, especially the leopard. These relationships added depth and emotional weight to the story, making the world feel more alive.
Areas of Concern
Unfortunately, the story stumbles around the 100-200 chapter mark. The pacing becomes uneven, and the plot feels like it meanders. Some arcs felt disjointed, almost as if the author's initial vision lost focus. The fight scenes, while initially exciting, become repetitive and lose their impact. Additionally, the power scaling seems inconsistent, with the MC feeling overpowered at times and inexplicably weaker at others, depending on the needs of the plot. The introduction of the human character was divisive, and for me it was a low point.
⚠️ Spoiler Warning
Several readers have pointed out issues with the MC's interactions with certain female characters, particularly around the snow mountain arc. The protagonist is suppressed and bullied around, and some find the power dynamics and potential romantic implications unsettling. The fact that the MC isn't the only golden claw also diminishes some of the appeal.
Final Verdict
"I Became A Mighty Lion" is a mixed bag. The initial concept and well-developed side characters offer moments of genuine enjoyment. However, the uneven pacing, repetitive battles, and questionable plot developments ultimately detract from the overall experience. If you're a fan of animal reincarnation stories and are willing to overlook its flaws, it might be worth a read. However, be prepared for a bumpy ride. I'd give it a cautious 3/5.
