My Thoughts on How To Pursue your Idol
"How To Pursue your Idol" is a novel that immediately grabbed my attention with its unique premise and blend of genres. It's a wild ride of action, comedy, and shounen ai elements all wrapped up in a package that's both entertaining and surprisingly engaging.
First Impressions
The initial concept is definitely what hooked me. The idea of an author being repeatedly transported into his own novel, triggered by a devoted (and powerful) reader, is pure genius. It's a fresh take on the transmigration trope, and the humor is evident right from the start. I was immediately invested in seeing how the protagonist would navigate the increasingly bizarre situations he found himself in.
What Works Well
The humor is definitely a strong point. The interactions between the author and his "Tyrant Reader" are hilarious, and the author's attempts to alter the plot to avoid certain doom are consistently entertaining. The relationship between the leads is also well-developed. The ML's clingy and fanboy-like personality adds another layer of comedy to the story and makes their interactions even more endearing. The story has a fast pace, but it never feels rushed, and the author manages to create a compelling narrative in a relatively short amount of time. The world-building, while not the primary focus, is still well-executed and adds to the overall enjoyment of the story. I particularly enjoyed the spicy scenes that are included.
Areas of Concern
While I thoroughly enjoyed the novel, I can see how the ending might leave some readers wanting more. It’s not necessarily a bad ending, but it does feel a bit abrupt. I personally felt that the conclusion could have been more fleshed out to provide a more satisfying sense of closure.
⚠️ Spoiler Warning
Okay, so this is just a minor spoiler, but I need to mention it. Some readers may be turned off by the beginning of the last chapter, as it may feel slightly disjointed from the rest of the story.
Final Verdict
Overall, "How To Pursue your Idol" is a fun and engaging read that I would recommend to anyone looking for a lighthearted and humorous shounen ai novel. The unique premise, well-developed characters, and consistent humor make it a truly enjoyable experience. Despite a slightly abrupt ending, the novel is well worth the read. I'm giving it a solid 4 out of 5 stars.
