My Thoughts on Beyond Time and Space Detective

"Beyond Time and Space Detective" was a read that genuinely surprised me. Going in, I wasn't sure what to expect, but I quickly found myself engrossed in the intricate plot and the unique dynamic between the two male leads. It's a blend of crime, mystery, and a touch of the supernatural, and it manages to pull it off quite well.

First Impressions

The premise immediately grabbed me: a forensic pathologist in the present communicating with a bounty-wanted criminal from the past. The "Signal" vibes, as one reader mentioned, are definitely there, with the story cleverly using a mysterious phenomenon to bridge the decades. I appreciated how the author established the connection and the stakes involved right from the start. It's a story that transcends time, and that concept alone makes it worth exploring.

What Works Well

What truly shines in this novel is the way the author handles the interactions between the MC and ML. Despite the limited time they have to communicate, their feelings develop naturally and believably. It avoids the pitfalls of instalove, instead building a connection that feels genuine and earned. I also really enjoyed that the characters had their own separate story. They work on their own and help each other. It's a really well-written character with their own area in the story.

I also have to give credit to the author's attention to detail, particularly when it comes to the forensic aspects of the story. It's clear they did their research, and the inclusion of forensic details adds a layer of authenticity that enhances the reading experience. I found myself learning a thing or two about forensics along the way!

Areas of Concern

My main critique would be the timing of the antagonist's introduction. As some have pointed out, the story would have benefited from introducing the real culprit earlier on. It felt like they appeared too late in the game, which lessened the impact of the mystery's resolution. Introducing the character earlier would have allowed readers to guess and theorize, which would have made it much more interesting.

Final Verdict

Overall, "Beyond Time and Space Detective" is a compelling and engaging read. The well-developed characters, intriguing plot, and unique premise make it a standout in the crime/mystery genre. While the late introduction of the antagonist is a minor drawback, it doesn't detract too much from the overall enjoyment of the story. If you're looking for a novel that blends crime, time-bending elements, and a sweet romance, I highly recommend giving this one a try.

Synopsis

In 1982, a major case occurred in Jin City, resulting in multiple deaths. The accomplices escaped, and the main perpetrator, Yin Jiaming, was shot and fell into the sea. Thirty-nine years later, a film adaptation of the case, “The Great Heist of Jin City,” became a box office hit, drawing the attention of forensic pathologist Ye Huairui. A month later, Ye Huairui moved into an old villa, only to discover that it was once the residence of Yin Jiaming. ==== At midnight, after a thunderstorm, Ye Huairui found a line of writing on his desk: “Who are you!!?” Ye Huairui thought, is this place haunted? He wrote a reply: “Either you are a ghost, or you are the mu*derer.” The message on the desk changed to: “I am not a ghost, nor am I the mu*derer! I didn’t kill anyone!!” Ye Huairui: … An incredible connection across time and space brought together two people separated by thirty-nine years in the mysterious old house. Thus began a time-transcending relay of investigation. “Yin Jiaming was wronged; the real culprit is still at large.” With the help of a genius forensic pathologist from thirty-nine years in the future, can Yin Jiaming prove his innocence and rewrite his doomed fate? ==== The truth will not be altered, only buried. A beyond time and space romance of death and redemption, and in the end, I will hold your hand tightly. ==== The first words Yin Jiaming “said” to Ye Huairui were: “Ruirui, come give me a hug.” Ye Huairui spread his hands: “You come here. If you can’t hug me, you’re a coward.”
