My Thoughts on As the Demon King, I Had No Choice but to PK the Hero
This web novel certainly lived up to its intriguing title! "As the Demon King, I Had No Choice but to PK the Hero" proved to be a quick and entertaining read, a bit like a sugary snack between heavier meals. It's not going to change your life, but it might just brighten your day.
First Impressions
Going in, I expected a lighthearted fantasy romp, and that's precisely what I got. The premise is simple: a somewhat hapless demon prince finds himself unexpectedly crowned Demon King and desperately trying to avoid a showdown with the Hero. The story immediately throws you into the thick of it, and the pace never really lets up.
What Works Well
The humor is definitely a strong point. The Demon King's antics, born more out of self-preservation than any grand evil scheme, are genuinely funny. The romance is sweet and fluffy, with a focus on cute interactions rather than anything overly explicit. It's a fun story about a demon prince who kidnapped a princess. The plot is full of twists and turns, which keeps things interesting as you learn more about the kidnapping. The novel is a great palate cleanser between longer, heavier novels because of its short length.
Areas of Concern
I did find some minor inconsistencies in the characters. Certain character motivations seemed a bit muddled, which was a little jarring considering the story's brevity. The extra story is better than the main story.
Final Verdict
Overall, "As the Demon King, I Had No Choice but to PK the Hero" is a delightful little story. If you're looking for something short, sweet, and silly to brighten your day, you could definitely do worse. It's a fun, easy read that doesn't take itself too seriously, and sometimes that's exactly what you need. I'd recommend it as a quick and enjoyable diversion.
