My Thoughts on After Being Reborn and Regaining Her Identity, the True Heiress Is Spoiled in the Seventies
"After Being Reborn and Regaining Her Identity, the True Heiress Is Spoiled in the Seventies" is quite a ride, and while I enjoyed parts of it, I can see why it has a mixed reception. It's a story packed with family drama, a touch of fantasy, and a whole lot of slice-of-life set against the backdrop of 1970s China.
First Impressions
The initial hook is strong. An Zhi Xia, our MC, gets a second chance at life after a bitter end orchestrated by the "fake" heiress who stole her place. The premise promises revenge, family reconnection, and a journey to reclaim what's rightfully hers. I was definitely intrigued.
What Works Well
The family dynamics, for all their complexities, are a major draw. I found the MC's coldness toward her biological parents, initially, to be understandable, given their continued favoritism toward the adopted daughter, even after learning the truth. The relationships with her brothers, especially the twins, offered some heartwarming moments. The story shines when delving into the nuances of human feelings and how relationships evolve over time. Also, I liked that the MC was strong-willed and decisive in eliminating those who caused harm to her.
Areas of Concern
The pacing definitely felt off. What started as a focused revenge plot seemed to meander into a lengthy family saga. The "spoiled" aspect of the title is misleading; the MC faces plenty of hardship and isn't universally doted upon. The story, in my opinion, dragged on for far too long after the initial conflict was resolved. I also felt that some of the plot points, like the space and shopping mall, were underutilized.

I also have to address the translation issues. Multiple reviewers mentioned confusing name mix-ups and pronoun errors, which, while I could still follow the gist of the story, detracted from my overall immersion. Some found the ending abrupt, and wished for more development of the MC’s children.
Final Verdict
Overall, "After Being Reborn…" is a mixed bag. While I appreciated the family drama and the MC's journey, the pacing issues, translation problems, and somewhat misleading title left me feeling a bit underwhelmed. It's a decent read if you're looking for a lengthy slice-of-life story with a touch of revenge, but be prepared to wade through some inconsistencies along the way. I'd give it a cautious recommendation, perhaps best enjoyed when you're looking for something to fill time without requiring too much brainpower.
