My Thoughts on Wilderness Vegetation
"Wilderness Vegetation" is a completed original BL novel that I recently finished, and it's definitely a story that sticks with you. With a solid 4.1/5 rating, it's clear many readers have found something to enjoy here. As someone who enjoys a good angst-filled romance, I was intrigued by the "wife-chasing crematorium" tag. However, I walked away with some mixed feelings.
First Impressions
The premise is classic crematorium: a cold gong, a devoted shou, misunderstandings galore, and a relationship that seems doomed from the start. The initial setup definitely hooked me, and I was eager to see how the characters would navigate their complex dynamic. I found myself quickly invested in seeing how the characters would develop, and how the central conflict would play out.
What Works Well
The emotional weight of the story is undeniable. Many readers praised the author's ability to create a bittersweet narrative that explores themes of forgiveness, healing, and second chances. The angst is palpable, and the groveling from the ML is satisfyingly intense. I found myself sympathizing with both leads, even when their actions were frustrating. The characters felt grounded and human, making their struggles all the more impactful. I also really enjoyed the strong bond between the MC and his brother, which added a heartwarming element to the story. The translation is also excellent, which greatly enhanced my reading experience.
Areas of Concern
