My Thoughts on My Son is a Transmigrated Prince
"My Son is a Transmigrated Prince" is quite the rollercoaster of a story, and I've come away with some very mixed feelings, but ultimately, I found it a worthwhile read. The premise alone is captivating: a modern woman suddenly confronted with a son who claims to be a crown prince from ancient times, a plot point that immediately pulled me in.
First Impressions
I was initially drawn in by the unique blend of genres. The combination of fantasy, historical elements, and a touch of the supernatural, all wrapped around a central romance, felt fresh. The early chapters focusing on the mother-son dynamic were incredibly heartwarming, and I was eager to see how the story would unfold.
What Works Well
The relationship between the female lead (FL) and her son is undoubtedly the heart of this novel. Their interactions are genuinely touching, and I appreciated the author's portrayal of a mother learning to navigate the complexities of raising a child who is, in essence, from another world.
The plot itself, while at times convoluted, kept me engaged. The FL's initial amnesia, the male lead's (ML) pursuit, and the son's struggle to adapt to modern life created a compelling narrative. I also appreciate that the FL isn't just a passive character. She has agency and makes her own choices, even if they aren't always popular with readers.
Areas of Concern
The ML is the most divisive aspect of this story. His manipulative tendencies and the questionable choices he makes both in the ancient timeline and the modern one, really rubbed me the wrong way. While the author attempts to portray him as a regretful character seeking redemption, I struggled to fully forgive his actions. I also felt that the FL's character could be frustrating at times, and I can see why some readers find her frustrating.
⚠️ Spoiler Warning
Several reviewers have pointed out the bittersweet nature of the ending, with the son eventually returning to his own time. While I understand the narrative reasons for this decision, it did leave me feeling a bit unsatisfied. I wanted more time with the family together in the modern world.
Final Verdict
Despite my reservations about the ML and the bittersweet elements, I ultimately enjoyed "My Son is a Transmigrated Prince." The strong mother-son bond, the unique premise, and the overall emotional impact of the story outweighed its flaws for me. If you're looking for a novel with a complex plot, flawed characters, and a healthy dose of family drama, this one might be worth your time. Just be prepared to shed a few tears along the way.
