My Thoughts on After the Succubus Became a Fake Young Master That Everyone Disliked
This novel is a quick and easy read, perfect for when you want something light and fluffy. I went in expecting a fun, low-stakes story, and that's pretty much what I got. It's definitely not a deep dive into complex world-building or intricate plot lines, but it’s a pleasant way to pass the time.
First Impressions
The premise definitely grabbed my attention: a succubus becoming a fake young master? Intriguing! I was hoping for some clever schemes and maybe a bit of chaotic energy, but the story leans more towards a relaxing, slice-of-life vibe with a focus on romance.
What Works Well
The romance between the MC and ML is definitely a highlight. It's sweet and relatively low-angst, which is a nice change of pace. The MC's carefree personality also adds to the charm. He's not overly ambitious or dramatic; he's content to just be himself and let things unfold. The side characters, like the doting family members, are fun and supportive, even if they don't get a ton of screen time. I especially enjoyed the comedic undertones throughout the story. It never took itself too seriously, which made it an enjoyable experience.
Areas of Concern
While I enjoyed the lighthearted nature of the story, I did find myself wanting a bit more depth in certain areas. The world-building, particularly regarding the succubus origins and the fantasy world, felt somewhat underdeveloped. I also felt that the premise had some wasted potential. The "real young master" situation is glossed over pretty quickly. The MC's lack of agency might not appeal to everyone. He's very passive, letting the plot happen to him rather than actively driving it. Some might find this relaxing, while others might find it frustrating. For me, it was a bit of both.
⚠️ Spoiler Warning
The story involves transmigration, but it's also tied to a forbidden spell and rebirth, which felt a little convoluted. The MC's succubus father casting the spell to bring them to the fantasy world, then the MC being reborn in the current world with only half his soul, was a lot to take in. Also, the "book" plot felt unnecessary and didn't add much to the overall story.
Final Verdict
After the Succubus Became a Fake Young Master That Everyone Disliked is a decent novel if you're looking for a short, sweet, and easy read with a focus on romance. Don't expect complex plots or deep character development, but if you're in the mood for something light and fluffy, this might just hit the spot. I'd give it a solid 3.5 out of 5 stars.
