My Thoughts on The Deeds Of An Extremely Arrogant Villain Aristocrat
"The Deeds Of An Extremely Arrogant Villain Aristocrat" is a novel that certainly grabbed my attention with its intriguing title and premise. As a seasoned web novel enthusiast, I went in hoping for a fun, engaging read, and I came away with a mixed, yet ultimately positive, impression.
First Impressions
Initially, I was drawn in by the promise of an overpowered protagonist who doesn't shy away from his arrogance. The idea of an MC embracing his "villainous" side is always appealing, and in the beginning, this novel seemed to deliver on that front. There was a definite "Death Flags" vibe to it, which is a good thing in my book.
What Works Well
The biggest strength of this novel, in my opinion, is the main character, Luke. He's self-serving and unapologetically so, which makes for a refreshing change of pace. I found his interactions with other characters, particularly the male ones, to be surprisingly engaging. It's also a plus that the author doesn't shy away from the romance aspect, and the MC isn't portrayed as some clueless virgin. The plot moves at a good pace, and I appreciate the author's approach to setting up multiple plot points simultaneously, even if the chapters are a bit on the shorter side.
Areas of Concern
However, there are some aspects that held me back from fully embracing this novel. The world-building, while decent, could definitely be more fleshed out. I also felt that some of the side characters, especially the female leads, fall into predictable tropes. Their sudden and intense devotion to the MC can feel a bit forced and unrealistic, which detracts from their overall character development. The academy setting also felt a bit contrived, as it seems to serve mainly as a plot device to force interactions rather than a natural progression of the story.
⚠️ Spoiler Warning
Some readers may be put off by the harem aspect, as the female characters can sometimes come across as overly obsessed and lacking depth. The romantic developments also happen quite quickly, which may not appeal to readers who prefer a slower burn.
Final Verdict
Despite its flaws, "The Deeds Of An Extremely Arrogant Villain Aristocrat" is an enjoyable read if you're looking for a lighthearted, action-packed story with an OP protagonist who isn't afraid to be himself. While it may not be groundbreaking, it's a competent novel that offers a refreshing take on the villainous MC trope. I'd recommend giving it a try, especially if you're a fan of similar series like "My Death Flags Show No Sign of Ending" or "Eminence in Shadow." I'd give it a solid 4 out of 5 stars.
