Who it's for, and whether it holds up.
Sein is a more grounded male lead than most wizard cultivation stories bother to produce. He isn't an arrogant genius or an emotionally dead killing machine, which gives the story a human texture that's easy to appreciate against a genre full of the other kind. The world-building has genuine original touches, and the crafting and alchemy system adds a mechanical layer that keeps the progression from feeling purely combat-driven.
The problems show up in the execution. Sein's power growth is tracked inconsistently. Details that would help you understand how much he's actually improved get glossed over, so achievements that should feel earned arrive without the setup to land properly. The battles are present but rarely build the kind of tension the action tag promises. And the balance between cultivation, plot, and the harem elements tilts in ways that don't always serve the story, with romantic interests sometimes crowding out what's more interesting about the premise.
At 3.8, this is a decent but uneven read. The protagonist is its best feature, and the world has enough going on to hold attention. But if you're coming for tight, detailed power progression and tense fights, you'll find both disappointingly thin. More like a 3 in practice than the rating suggests, though fans of slower wizard cultivation with a less obnoxious lead will get something from it.
