My Thoughts on Loving You Is Too Difficult
"Loving You Is Too Difficult" promised a dramatic romance, and while it delivered on some aspects, I found myself a bit conflicted by the end. It's a short, easily digestible read, but the execution left me wanting more depth.
First Impressions
Initially, I was drawn in by the premise: a second chance romance with a beautiful female lead and a handsome bodyguard against a backdrop of past trauma. The early chapters certainly hooked me with the female lead's spoiled nature and the tension between her and the male lead. However, as the story progressed, I began to understand the criticisms leveled at the characters' actions and motivations.
What Works Well
The pacing is undeniably quick, which makes it an easy read. I appreciated the author's ability to evoke strong emotions, particularly concerning the female lead's tragic past and her feelings of abandonment. The translation was also well done, allowing me to fully immerse myself in the story. The later half, where the male lead tries to win back the female lead, had its moments, showcasing his dedication and love, even if it wasn't always explicitly stated.
Areas of Concern
However, I found myself agreeing with the criticism regarding character development. The female lead's transformation felt somewhat abrupt, and I wasn't entirely convinced by her "fixed" state at the end. Her initial behavior, while understandable given her background, sometimes crossed the line into manipulation. The male lead's actions were also questionable. His initial coldness and the way he handled his previous relationship raised some red flags for me. The story felt rushed, and it sacrificed exploring the emotional complexities of the characters and their relationships. The ending, while happy, felt a little too neat and tidy, leaving me with lingering questions.
⚠️ Spoiler Warning
Several reviewers pointed out the female lead's actions while knowing the male lead had a girlfriend. This definitely created a moral gray area that made it difficult for me to fully root for her, especially when she actively tried to seduce him. Also, the male lead's absence during a crucial period in the female lead's life, when her family abandoned her, felt like a significant oversight that wasn't adequately addressed.
Final Verdict
Overall, "Loving You Is Too Difficult" is a decent read if you're looking for a quick and dramatic romance. However, the lack of character depth and the morally ambiguous actions of the characters prevent me from giving it a higher recommendation. I'd rate it a solid 3.5 out of 5 stars. It's an enjoyable escape, but don't expect a deeply nuanced or emotionally resonant experience.
