I dove into "I’ve Possessed the Demon Sovereign’s Body" with high hopes, intrigued by the premise of a strong character starting from a weakened state. The initial concept definitely grabbed my attention, and I was eager to see how the author would handle the power dynamics.
First Impressions
The first few chapters were promising. I found myself drawn to the protagonist, Chen Luoyang, and his rather audacious attempts to bluff his way out of situations despite his diminished power. This aspect of the story was particularly engaging, and I appreciated the lack of a typical romance subplot. The fight scenes were also fairly well-written, keeping me invested in the immediate action.
What Works Well
The author’s idea of starting with an overpowered character and then stripping them of their strength is a refreshing take on the Xianxia genre. Chen Luoyang’s cunning and the way he uses his knowledge and experience to navigate tricky situations were definite highlights for me. I also appreciated the absence of a romantic subplot, allowing the story to focus on cultivation and political intrigue.
