Who it's for, and whether it holds up.
A 3.6 on a smut-heavy psychological novel tells you most of what you need to know: there's something here, but it's not for most people, and even those it is for will have reservations.
The novel does what it sets out to do. The MC's descent into hedonism is relentless and the author does not appear to be endorsing any of it. The framing makes the disgust intentional, which is a meaningful distinction. The translations are reportedly strong, and the writing is functional.
The problems are also straightforward. There is almost no plot. The explicit content, which is substantial, crowds out whatever narrative structure might have existed. The MC's treatment of his wife is a recurring source of reader frustration, and specific content involving family members is a hard line for a lot of people. Non-consensual encounters are frequent rather than incidental.
The moral decay arc is the interesting thing here, and there are moments where the novel seems genuinely curious about how someone gets from point A to somewhere much darker. But those moments are surrounded by content that will drive most readers off before they can appreciate them.
If you are specifically looking for extreme content with a psychological angle and can sit with a narrative that withholds resolution, this delivers. If you need plot, character development outside the MC, or any kind of redemption arc, look elsewhere. I would not call this a casual read by any measure.
