My Thoughts on Stand User in Marvel Universe
Okay, so I dove into "Stand User in Marvel Universe" with a healthy dose of curiosity. The premise alone – a JoJo's Bizarre Adventure power system smack-dab in the middle of the MCU – is enough to grab your attention. After reading a fair bit of it, I've got some thoughts.
First Impressions
Initially, I was hooked. The idea of Stands interacting with the established Marvel universe felt fresh. The main character's progression, acquiring Stands through a "lucky" draw system, was interesting enough to keep me reading. I was eager to see how the author would blend these two distinct universes. The early chapters definitely had a certain charm.
What Works Well
The novelty of seeing Stands used in the context of Marvel's established storylines is a definite highlight. Some readers have pointed out that the author does a decent job of incorporating the MCU spectrum. The MC is tolerable, and doesn't go too overboard with overpowered nonsense. Also, the system is tolerable, Stands are always great, and there is enough original story-line to not leave your bored. The fights were exciting, and the potential of Stands like [The Hand] being fully realized in this setting was genuinely appealing. I appreciated that the MC, while powerful, wasn't invincible, especially on Earth.
Areas of Concern
However, as I continued, some issues began to surface. Several readers have mentioned that the MC's actions don't always lead to significant changes in the overall MCU plot, which can feel a bit pointless. The tendency to stick too closely to the original storylines, even when the MC has the power to alter them, is a frustrating pattern. Also, some have pointed out that as the story progresses, more and more characters are introduced, that's not bad, after all, infinity war was the same thing, and here the same problem apear again. Too many character, so too many side os the story, too manu thing is happen. Principally in the end of story, and a lot of this thing, we already know, because it's the same thing than happen in the film. So, less chapter with the MC, and less protagonis, made me feal a litte borring.
⚠️ Spoiler Warning
Some have noted that the MC's initial interactions with Black Widow felt forced and a little nonsensical, and that the author is too afraid to make the MC make big changes to the original story. One big example is that Thor didn't suffer as much as in the original story against the destroyer during his first descent. The MC changed that minor thing.. Well.. At least he trained Thor to "aim for the head." lmao. Coulson was healed. Pietro survived. BUT.. Asgard was still destroyed during the ragnarok.
Final Verdict
"Stand User in Marvel Universe" is a decent casual read, especially if you're a fan of both JoJo's Bizarre Adventure and the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Just don't expect a groundbreaking narrative. It's a fun blend of two worlds, but it doesn't always reach its full potential. I'd say give it a shot if you're looking for something light and entertaining, but be prepared for some familiar fanfiction tropes and a plot that might not deviate as much as you'd hope.
