My Thoughts on Reincarnation Of The Businesswoman At School
"Reincarnation Of The Businesswoman At School" is definitely a mixed bag, and my experience reading it reflected that. It’s a story with a strong female lead who's determined to make her mark, but it ultimately falls into some frustrating patterns.
First Impressions
Initially, I was drawn in by the premise: a reincarnated businesswoman using her past life knowledge and a unique jade-based power to build a business empire. The early chapters promised a fun, face-slapping adventure as the MC navigated high school and took on arrogant rivals. It seemed like a classic wish-fulfillment story, and I was here for it.
What Works Well
The initial charm of the story lies in watching the MC outsmart her enemies and build her empire. There's a certain satisfaction in seeing her stand up for herself and her mother against those who wronged them. Some readers have described it as an OP Mary Sue story, and if you go in expecting that, you might enjoy the ride. The romance, while not a central focus, offers some sweet and doting moments, especially with a male lead who is initially a bit dense.
Areas of Concern
However, as I progressed, the cracks started to show. The plot becomes incredibly repetitive. The MC meets new people, they become arrogant, she slaps their faces, and then either recruits them or crushes them. This cycle repeats endlessly, making the story feel stagnant. The introduction of supernatural elements like vampires, dragons, zombies, and cultivators felt jarring and out of place, shifting the genre in a way that didn't quite work for me.
The sheer number of enemies the MC accumulates is also absurd. It feels like every encounter results in someone wanting her dead, which stretches believability. Furthermore, some of the plot devices, like convenient amnesia and rushed power growth, just felt lazy. Also, there were mentions of the frequent use of r*pe as a plot device for revenge, which I personally find disturbing and unnecessary.
⚠️ Spoiler Warning
Several reviewers have pointed out instances of sxual assault and rpe being used as plot devices, sometimes even filmed by the MC. Additionally, the ending feels rushed, and the sequel focusing on the MC's daughter seems to repeat the same tropes.
Final Verdict
Ultimately, "Reincarnation Of The Businesswoman At School" is a novel with potential that it doesn't quite live up to. While the initial premise and strong female lead are appealing, the repetitive plot, jarring genre shifts, and questionable plot devices make it a frustrating read. If you're looking for a lighthearted, mindless read with plenty of face-slapping, you might find some enjoyment here. However, if you're seeking depth, complexity, or nuanced characters, you'll likely be disappointed. I'd say proceed with caution.
