My Thoughts on Rebuilding Base is Under Construction
"Rebuilding Base is Under Construction" is a wild ride of a web novel that throws you headfirst into a chaotic crossover of Marvel, DC, and prison management simulation. I initially wasn't sure what to expect, but the premise alone was enough to pique my interest. After diving in, I found myself both laughing and scratching my head in confusion, but ultimately, quite entertained.
First Impressions
The story kicks off with Zhang Dianyu, our protagonist, finding himself inexplicably transported into the world of his favorite game, Prison Architect, only it's not quite the game he remembers. The initial chapters are strong, establishing the premise and introducing a protagonist who, let's just say, has a unique approach to problem-solving. The moment the Joker showed up as a prisoner, I knew this wasn't going to be your average transmigration story!
What Works Well
The humor is definitely a highlight. Zhang Dianyu's lack of common sense, combined with his dedication to running the prison according to game logic, leads to some truly hilarious misunderstandings with the superhero and villain inhabitants. I found myself chuckling at the sheer absurdity of the situations he gets himself into. The unique premise of managing a prison filled with iconic characters is also refreshing. It's a creative twist on the isekai genre, and the author does a great job of weaving together the different universes. I also appreciated the protagonist's dedication to his role as warden, even when faced with the bizarre reality of his situation.
Areas of Concern
One potential drawback, at least for some readers, might be the heavy fanfiction elements. While I enjoyed the crossover aspect, I can see how it could feel a bit overwhelming for those not familiar with the source material. Also, the romance is slow burn, if it even exists. While some readers are shipping the MC with Tony Stark, others feel that there is no romance at all.
⚠️ Spoiler Warning
Okay, let's address the elephant in the room. There is a theory that Tony Stark is the ML. Also, the main character is not human and is confused about whether he is in a real world or a game world.
Final Verdict
Overall, I'd give "Rebuilding Base is Under Construction" a solid 4 out of 5 stars. It's a fun, quirky, and surprisingly engaging read. If you're a fan of crossover fanfiction, prison management sims, and protagonists who are hilariously out of touch with reality, then this novel is definitely worth checking out. Just be prepared for a wild ride and a healthy dose of absurdity!
