My Thoughts on Please Stop Talking
"Please Stop Talking" – the title alone intrigued me enough to dive in. With its blend of fantasy, harem elements, school life, and a touch of the supernatural, it seemed like a promising read. After spending some time with it, I can see both its appeal and its shortcomings.
First Impressions
Initially, the novel hooked me with its premise. A calm protagonist navigating a world filled with accelerated growth, appearance changes, and a hint of early romance? Sounds like a fun ride! The genius protagonist angle, coupled with the college/university setting, offered a fresh backdrop for the unfolding story.
What Works Well
The early stages of the novel are definitely its strongest. The initial world-building and character introductions are well-paced, drawing you into the protagonist's journey. The "cheats" or unique abilities the protagonist possesses add an element of excitement and anticipation. The incorporation of businessmen and a beautiful female lead certainly adds to the dynamism of the story.
Areas of Concern
However, as the story progresses, some cracks begin to appear. The cultivation aspect, while initially interesting, becomes repetitive, dragging down the narrative flow. The harem element, which can be a draw for some, unfortunately becomes a bit of a blur. With so many characters, it's hard to keep track of them, and their personalities tend to fade into the background. It feels like quantity over quality, which ultimately detracts from the overall experience. It's a shame because the potential for deeper character development is definitely there, but it gets lost in the sheer number of characters introduced.
Final Verdict
"Please Stop Talking" has moments of brilliance, particularly in its early chapters. The premise is intriguing, and the initial character development is promising. However, the repetitive nature of the cultivation storyline and the overwhelming harem aspect ultimately hold it back. While it might be an enjoyable read for those specifically seeking these elements, others may find themselves losing interest as the story progresses. Overall, it's a decent read with some good ideas, but it falls short of its full potential.
