My Thoughts on Ore No Koto Ga Daisukina Osananajimi To Tsuriau Yō Doryoku Shite Itara, Ano Toki Tasuketa Aidoru Ga Tenkō Shite Kite Gakkō Ga Shuraba To-ka Shite Imasu
This title is a mouthful, I know, but after diving in, I can tell you it's a wild ride. "My Childhood Friend Who Loves Me Is Trying to Match Me, But the Idol I Saved Back Then Transferred and School Became a Battlefield" (phew!) is definitely not your typical sweet and fluffy romance. It's got a chaotic energy that I found surprisingly refreshing.
First Impressions
My initial thought was, "Okay, another harem rom-com." But it quickly became clear that this story isn't aiming for heartwarming moments and saccharine sweetness. Instead, it throws you headfirst into a world of over-the-top characters and absurd situations. It's almost like a comedic trainwreck – you know it's a mess, but you can't look away.
What Works Well
The biggest strength of this novel is its humor. It's the kind of comedy that doesn't take itself seriously at all, relying on rapid-fire back-and-forth banter and exaggerated personalities. The female characters are incredibly forward, almost aggressively so, which creates a hilarious dynamic with the main character who, bless his heart, is just trying to survive the chaos. It's a fun subversion of the typical harem setup, where the protagonist is usually the one driving the romance. Here, he's just trying to keep his head above water. If you're looking for something lighthearted and silly to turn your brain off to, this could be it.
Areas of Concern
Honestly, if you're expecting a deep, meaningful story with complex character development, you'll be disappointed. This is pure, unadulterated comedic escapism. The plot, while present, mostly serves as a vehicle for the characters' antics. Also, the "ecchi" tag is there for a reason. It doesn't get too graphic, but the story definitely leans into suggestive situations and fan service.
Final Verdict
"Ore No Koto Ga Daisukina…" (I'm not typing that whole title again!) is a fun, if somewhat chaotic, comedic romp. It's not going to win any awards for literary brilliance, but if you're in the mood for something silly and over-the-top, this might just be what you're looking for. Just be prepared to embrace the absurdity and leave your expectations at the door. I'd give it a solid 3.5 out of 5 stars. It knows what it is, and it commits to it wholeheartedly.
