My Thoughts on National School Prince Is A Girl
"National School Prince Is A Girl" is quite the ride, a sprawling web novel that throws everything and the kitchen sink into its plot. I went in expecting a lighthearted gender bender, and while there are definitely moments of comedic gold, it’s also a story that demands a certain level of suspension of disbelief.
First Impressions
The premise is undeniably captivating: a top hacker transmigrates into the body of a cross-dressing girl with a terrible reputation. I was immediately drawn in by the idea of a cool, confident female lead shaking things up in a male-dominated world. The early chapters certainly deliver on this promise, with plenty of face-slapping and witty banter.
What Works Well
The main character, Fu Jiu, is a definite highlight. I found her flirty, shameless personality incredibly entertaining, and it's refreshing to see a gender bender protagonist who isn't shy or weak. The dynamic between her and Qin Mo, the aloof male lead, is also a major draw. Watching him grapple with his feelings as he slowly falls for her (while thinking she's a guy!) is genuinely hilarious. I also appreciate the gaming aspect of the story, which adds another layer of excitement and tension.
Areas of Concern
However, the novel isn't without its flaws. The plot can feel incredibly convoluted at times, with the author trying to cram in too many elements – esports, military intrigue, hacking, acting, and even supernatural elements. The male lead's possessive and controlling behavior is also a major turn-off for some readers. While some might find it endearing, others may find it creepy and even abusive. I also noticed that the constant descriptions of the characters' beauty can become repetitive and tiresome.
⚠️ Spoiler Warning
Some readers have pointed out that the ML forbids MC from having friends and tries to control her social life with an iron grip, to the point where he calls her school to change her desk mate from a girl to a boy because he didn’t want her to “flirt”. calls her dumb (in a roubdabout way) and implies only he can teach het school work. forces and bullies her into a lot of unpleasant.
Final Verdict
Despite its flaws, "National School Prince Is A Girl" is an undeniably addictive read. If you're willing to overlook some of the more nonsensical plot points and the problematic aspects of the romance, you'll find a story that's full of humor, excitement, and unforgettable characters. Just be prepared for a long haul – this novel is definitely a commitment!
