My Thoughts on Let’s Talk When You Wake Up
"Let's Talk When You Wake Up" is a novel I found myself thoroughly enjoying, despite a few minor reservations. It's a blend of comedy, drama, and romance, and while the amnesia plotline requires a certain suspension of disbelief, the overall experience is undeniably sweet and heartwarming.
First Impressions
Initially, the premise of rival CEOs and amnesia didn't immediately grab me. I've seen similar plots before, and they can sometimes fall flat. However, I was quickly won over by the execution. The story centers around Pei Xi, who develops amnesia and believes He Chuzhou, his business rival, is his boyfriend. It's a unique twist on the trope, with the shou experiencing memory issues rather than the gong, which was a refreshing change of pace.
What Works Well
The core of this novel lies in its characters and their relationship. He Chuzhou's unwavering devotion to Pei Xi, even when he's acting like an amnesiac "baby," is incredibly endearing. Many readers praised his patience, maturity, and genuine love for all sides of Pei Xi. The romance is unique, funny, and filled with warmth, making it a truly fulfilling experience. I also appreciated the author's use of a dual POV, which allowed me to connect with both characters on a deeper level.
