My Thoughts on I’m Sending Warmth to the Disabled Boss
"I'm Sending Warmth to the Disabled Boss" is a QT novel that I dove into with high hopes, given the premise. The idea of a powerful mythical beast, Yingzhao, learning to love and actively pursue his ML across different worlds sounded incredibly appealing. After spending some time with this story, I have a mixed bag of feelings.
First Impressions
Initially, I was intrigued by the concept of the ML being disabled in each world, presenting unique challenges and opportunities for the MC to show his devotion. The early arcs drew me in, and I was eager to see how their relationship would develop. The fast-paced nature of the story was also a plus, as I generally enjoy QT novels that get straight to the point.
What Works Well
I appreciated the refreshing take on the MC. Unlike some QT protagonists, Yingzhao isn't overpowered, which allows for a more engaging dynamic with the ML. I found the ML to be a real gem. His disabilities and often sad backgrounds in each world tugged at my heartstrings, and I enjoyed seeing the MC navigate his quirks and insecurities. The author's creativity with the different world settings was also a highlight, with some arcs, like the interstellar mermaid one, standing out as particularly fun and lighthearted. The strong, straightforward personality of the MC, coupled with the devoted relationship between the two leads, definitely provided some sweet "dog food" moments.
Areas of Concern
However, as I progressed, I noticed some recurring issues. The face-slapping became repetitive, and the plotlines started to feel juvenile and lacking in substance. I also felt that the MC's shift from timid to overtly affectionate happened too abruptly, lacking the gradual development I usually appreciate in romance stories. One of my biggest concerns was the portrayal of women in the story. They often seemed to be reduced to one-dimensional, villainous characters with no redeeming qualities, which became tiresome and unsettling.
⚠️ Spoiler Warning
Some readers might find the twist regarding the true enemy to be abrupt and poorly executed. Also, the author reuses plot points and villain reveals from other stories.
Final Verdict
Overall, "I'm Sending Warmth to the Disabled Boss" is a mixed bag. While it offers a sweet and fluffy romance with an endearing couple and creative world settings, it suffers from repetitive plotlines, inconsistent character development, and questionable portrayals of female characters. If you're looking for a brainless, fast-paced read with plenty of pampering and don't mind overlooking some of its flaws, you might find it enjoyable. However, if you prefer more nuanced characters and intricate plots, this novel might leave you wanting more.
