My Thoughts on Eternities Still Unsaid Till You Love Me
"Eternities Still Unsaid Till You Love Me" is a novel that pulled me in with its melancholic title and the promise of a unique Alpha x Alpha dynamic in an omegaverse setting. While it wasn't a perfect read, it certainly had its moments, and I can see why it's garnered a dedicated following.
First Impressions
The initial chapters felt a bit like navigating a dream, with the MC, Xu Ze, presented as somewhat of an unreliable narrator. I found myself piecing together the world and the dynamics between the characters as I went along. The story starts with a classic setup: a wealthy, powerful ML (Lu Heyang) and a hardworking, orphaned MC struggling to make ends meet. Their encounters at school and in an underground boxing ring set the stage for a relationship that's both sweet and fraught with challenges.
What Works Well
What I appreciated most was the natural progression of the relationship. Xu Ze's initial crush on Lu Heyang felt genuine, and the way Lu Heyang slowly took notice of him was compelling. The author did a great job of portraying the subtle emotions and unspoken feelings between them. The side characters, especially Lu Heyang's two best friends, added a lot of humor and depth to the story. I also liked how the ABO elements weren't overly emphasized, allowing the focus to remain on the characters and their emotional journey. Xu Ze's humbleness was endearing, and Lu Heyang's acceptance of Xu Ze, flaws and all, was really great to see.
Areas of Concern
However, I did have some reservations. Xu Ze's character, while likable, sometimes felt a bit too passive and unchanging. His constant self-sacrifice and reluctance to burden Lu Heyang with his problems could be frustrating. I also felt that the plot relied a bit too heavily on clichés, such as amnesia and the "shackles of high society" trope.
⚠️ Spoiler Warning
Several reviews mention a time skip and amnesia plotline that introduces a significant amount of angst. While some readers enjoyed the drama, others felt it was unnecessary and detracted from the overall story. I can see both sides of the argument. While the angst did add a layer of complexity, it also felt a bit contrived.
Final Verdict
Overall, "Eternities Still Unsaid Till You Love Me" is an enjoyable read with well-developed characters and a sweet, albeit angsty, romance. While it may not be groundbreaking, it's a solid choice for fans of the genre who appreciate subtle emotions, devoted love interests, and a satisfying HEA. Just be prepared for some dogblood drama along the way!
