My Thoughts on Blazing Fire Is Hard to Extinguish
"Blazing Fire Is Hard to Extinguish" promised a sweet and mature romance, and after diving in, I can say it mostly delivered. The story follows a wealthy businessman and a carefree model who start a friends-with-benefits arrangement that, predictably but delightfully, evolves into something much deeper.
First Impressions
I was immediately drawn in by the premise: a cold, stoic ML and a charismatic, free-spirited MC. It's a classic setup, but the execution is what really matters. I found myself rooting for these two to overcome their initial hesitations and embrace their growing feelings.
What Works Well
The character development is a major strength. I especially appreciated how the author portrayed Lin Chi, the MC. He's independent, knows his worth, and has a refreshing outlook on life. The ML, Li Tingyan, also goes through a significant transformation, shedding his initial stoicism to reveal a gentle and devoted side. Their chemistry is undeniable, and I enjoyed watching their relationship progress from a casual fling to a genuine partnership.
The story is relatively low on angst, which I found refreshing. While there are some bumps along the road, the overall tone is sweet and heartwarming. The author also deserves credit for creating a believable and mature relationship. The characters communicate, address their issues, and ultimately choose to fight for their love. The writing itself is often poetic, with beautiful metaphors that enhance the emotional impact of the story.
Areas of Concern
While I mostly enjoyed the novel, I can see how some readers might find certain aspects less appealing. A small number of people were not fond of the separation arc, feeling it relied on a somewhat tired trope. Also, the extra chapters seem to be a bit divisive. While some readers enjoyed the additional content and deeper exploration of the characters, others found them unnecessary or even contradictory to the main story.
⚠️ Spoiler Warning
Some readers may find the following mild spoilers relevant to their reading experience:
- The story includes a brief separation period between the MC and ML.
- The extra chapters explore a "what if" scenario with younger versions of the characters.
Final Verdict
Overall, I found "Blazing Fire Is Hard to Extinguish" to be a delightful and engaging read. The well-developed characters, sweet romance, and mature themes make it a standout in the yaoi genre. While the separation arc and extra chapters may not appeal to everyone, the core story is definitely worth experiencing. I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a heartwarming and relatively low-angst romance with compelling characters and beautiful writing.
