My Thoughts on Amaku Yasashii Sekai de Ikiru ni wa
"Amaku Yasashii Sekai de Ikiru ni wa" presents an interesting premise: a protagonist seeking redemption in a world that seems determined to adore him. While the concept has potential, my reading experience has been somewhat mixed, and I can see why other readers have expressed similar sentiments.
First Impressions
Initially, the story drew me in with its otome-like setup, reminiscent of a character who remembers a past life and strives to change for the better. The idea of a protagonist cleverly navigating his past mistakes, genuinely caring for his family and friends, and feeling burdened by the act he has to put on was intriguing.
What Works Well
The comedic elements are definitely a highlight. I found myself chuckling at the antics of the characters, especially the scenes involving the horses. If you are looking for a lighthearted, entertaining read, this novel might be worth your time. I appreciate the glimpses into the perspectives of various characters and find some of their interactions enjoyable.
Areas of Concern
However, I found the writing style somewhat lacking. The author's inexperience shows with the constant praise the MC receives. The story often tells us what the MC did in the past but never shows us the consequences of his actions, which makes it hard to believe that he is trying to redeem himself.
Another issue is the pacing. I felt bogged down by excessive internal monologues and world-building that didn't seem crucial to the plot. Furthermore, events were dragged out unnecessarily, and every minor situation felt like a "boss battle." The characters around the MC are also very black and white, as people either praise him like a saint, or hate him for every little thing he does.
Final Verdict
"Amaku Yasashii Sekai de Ikiru ni wa" has a fun premise, but falls short in execution. I think readers who enjoy lighthearted stories with a strong focus on comedy may find it enjoyable. However, those seeking a more nuanced and realistic portrayal of redemption might be disappointed. Overall, I'd say it's a decent read if you're looking for something to pass the time, but don't expect a masterpiece.
