My Thoughts on After Rebirth, the Scum All Cry for Forgiveness
"After Rebirth, the Scum All Cry for Forgiveness" is a wild ride of family drama, wish fulfillment, and a protagonist who's determined to live life on her own terms. While it's not without its flaws, I found myself surprisingly entertained by this novel's unique premise and satisfying (if somewhat predictable) plot.
First Impressions
The concept immediately grabbed my attention: a neglected daughter gets a second chance when her awful family is reborn and suddenly wants to make amends. It's like a karmic slap in the face, and I was eager to see how the protagonist would handle it. The initial chapters set the stage well, introducing the key players and establishing the complex family dynamics that fuel the story.
What Works Well
What I enjoyed most was the protagonist's journey of self-discovery and empowerment. She's intelligent, capable, and refuses to be defined by her past. I appreciated how she used her newfound knowledge and skills to carve out her own path, becoming successful and independent. The male lead is also a highlight – a genuinely devoted and supportive character who provides a heartwarming contrast to the toxic family relationships. The author's clever writing, which often juxtaposes the family's regrets with flashbacks of their past actions, effectively maintains the story's emotional weight.
Areas of Concern
The "Mary Sue" aspect is definitely present. The MC is exceptionally talented, beautiful, and seemingly effortlessly achieves success. This can make the story feel a bit too convenient at times. Additionally, I felt like the family's repentance, while central to the plot, could have been explored with more depth. While they express regret, a genuine apology felt somewhat lacking. The fake sister is a bit of a one-dimensional annoyance, too.
⚠️ Spoiler Warning
Some reviews mention a significant twist regarding the protagonist's true identity and the nature of her rebirth. It's revealed that she is, in fact, the original owner of the body, reborn with fragmented memories. This adds another layer of complexity to her relationship with her family, but it also raises questions about her initial motivations and actions.
Final Verdict
Overall, "After Rebirth, the Scum All Cry for Forgiveness" is an enjoyable read if you're looking for a wish-fulfillment story with a strong female lead and a dose of family drama. It's not perfect, and the "OP" protagonist and somewhat shallow character development might not appeal to everyone. However, the unique premise, satisfying revenge plot, and heartwarming romance make it a worthwhile read for fans of the genre. I'd rate it a solid 3.75 out of 5 stars.
