My Thoughts on The Disciples I Raised Are All Villains
"The Disciples I Raised Are All Villains" has been an interesting read so far, and while it’s still early in the translation, I've definitely formed some opinions. The premise alone – a male protagonist raising a bunch of villainous disciples – is enough to pique my interest. It's got that classic Xuanhuan feel with a comedic twist, and I'm always up for a good laugh alongside some martial arts action.
First Impressions
Right off the bat, the story sucks you in with its lighthearted tone. The initial chapters are easy to breeze through, and the translation quality is solid, which is a huge plus in my book. There is a lot to like and I was hooked right from the beginning.
What Works Well
The comedy is definitely a strong point. It's not laugh-out-loud hilarious all the time, but it's consistently amusing and keeps the story from getting too bogged down in serious plotlines. I'm also intrigued by the master-disciple relationship dynamic. Seeing how the protagonist navigates raising these villainous disciples, and the inevitable chaos that ensues, is genuinely entertaining. The cultivation aspects are well-integrated, providing a solid backdrop for the characters' growth and the unfolding plot.
Areas of Concern
While the comedic elements are appreciated, I do have some reservations. Some of the comedic scenes feel a bit forced, relying on common tropes that, while familiar, don't always land perfectly. It remains to be seen if the story will fully commit to the harem tag or if it will ultimately focus on a single romantic interest for the protagonist. If it does go the harem route, I hope it's handled well and feels natural to the story, otherwise, it might feel like a missed opportunity.
Final Verdict
Overall, "The Disciples I Raised Are All Villains" is a promising web novel with a lot of potential. The blend of adventure, comedy, and martial arts makes for an engaging read, and the intriguing premise keeps me coming back for more. While there are a few areas that could be improved, the solid translation and entertaining story make it worth checking out, especially if you're looking for a lighthearted and fun cultivation story. I'm definitely looking forward to seeing how the story develops and what kind of trouble the protagonist and his villainous disciples get into next.
