My Thoughts on Never Be Friends With Monsters

Okay, let me tell you, "Never Be Friends With Monsters" completely charmed me! This story is a delightful blend of comedy, drama, and fantasy set against a school-life backdrop that just works. I went in expecting a lighthearted read, and I definitely got that, but I also found myself surprisingly invested in the characters and their growth.

First Impressions

From the get-go, I was hooked by the premise. The idea of a young girl befriending monsters is inherently adorable, and the author executes it beautifully. I immediately liked the female lead, Zhao Xixi.

What Works Well

The biggest strength of this novel, in my opinion, is its heartwarming nature. It's overflowing with sweetness and fluff, making it a perfect comfort read. The character development is also fantastic. We see Zhao Xixi evolve from a frightened child into a confident and caring individual, and it's a joy to witness. Jin Yuzheng, the male lead, also undergoes significant growth, shedding his initially cold exterior to reveal a kind and humble heart.

Even the parents, who start out as seemingly neglectful, experience a realistic and believable transformation, learning to be better and more supportive. This depth of character development across the board really elevates the story. I also appreciated the balance of sugar and spice – enough excitement to keep me engaged without being overly dramatic. I was also happy to see the author didn't add unnecessary drama for the sake of plot.

Areas of Concern

Honestly, I'm struggling to find significant faults. Some might find the ending a bit rushed, but overall, I thought it wrapped up nicely. The story is also quite short, which might leave some readers wanting more, but I personally found it to be a perfectly contained and satisfying narrative.

⚠️ Spoiler Warning

Some reviews mention specific plot points and character arcs, so proceed with caution if you want to go in completely blind!

Final Verdict

"Never Be Friends With Monsters" is a truly delightful and heartwarming story that I wholeheartedly recommend. If you're looking for a sweet, fluffy, and character-driven read with a touch of fantasy, this is definitely one to pick up. It's a solid 4.5/5 stars from me!
