My Thoughts on My Children are Fierce and Adorable
First Impressions
"My Children are Fierce and Adorable" throws you headfirst into a world of ancient times, complete with a transmigration twist. We meet Ye Lulu, a modern woman reborn just moments before giving birth to triplets, each blessed with unique supernatural abilities. The father, a reincarnated god, adds another layer of intrigue. The premise is undeniably captivating, and I was eager to dive in.
What Works Well
The novel shines when it focuses on the family dynamic, particularly the interactions between Ye Lulu and her children. The babies, while powerful, still feel realistic, and their development is genuinely heartwarming. Many readers, including myself, found the depiction of the supportive in-laws a refreshing change from the often-toxic family dynamics found in similar novels. The business aspects, specifically Ye Lulu's restaurant venture, are also engaging, showcasing her resourcefulness and hard work. The world-building, while sometimes slow, provides a solid foundation for the story. I also appreciated the author's attention to detail in describing the food; it definitely made me hungry!
Areas of Concern
Despite its strengths, the novel does have some shortcomings. The pacing can be uneven, with repetitive cycles of hunting, villain encounters, and food descriptions. The romance between Ye Lulu and the male lead is slow-burn, bordering on nonexistent for some readers. While I don't necessarily mind a slow-developing relationship, the lack of emotional connection between the leads can be frustrating. The male lead, in particular, is sometimes criticized for being too stoic and lacking depth. Also, some found the frequent "face-slapping" scenarios and interactions with jealous villagers tiresome.
⚠️ Spoiler Warning
Some readers have mentioned plot points that could be considered spoilers. Specifically, the male lead's awareness of Ye Lulu's transmigrated status and his initial attempts to understand her background are revealed early on. Additionally, the story ends on a cliffhanger, with a competitor threatening Ye Lulu's business and home. Reader Avrohom mentions the author started torturing little kids (after torturing animals in previous chapters, a.k.a. The Good Doctor arc) and they had enough of her sick fantasies in the direction of ever increasing cruelty and gore in all detail, so I lost interest in it.
Final Verdict
"My Children are Fierce and Adorable" is a mixed bag. The strong familial relationships, cute children, and engaging business aspects are definite highlights. However, the slow romance, repetitive plot elements, and somewhat two-dimensional male lead detract from the overall experience. If you're primarily interested in a heartwarming family story with a touch of the supernatural and don't mind a slow-burn romance (or lack thereof), this novel might be worth a try. However, be aware of the potential for a cliffhanger ending and some potentially disturbing content later in the story.
