My Thoughts on I Was Judged As Jobless and Banished After Choosing a Supercharged Growth Rate Skill. A Skill Maniac Rescued Me, but I Don’t Want to Get Too Involved
This title is a mouthful, but the story itself? It's a mixed bag. I can see why it's sitting at a middle-of-the-road rating. It has moments of brilliance, but also some head-scratching decisions that keep it from truly shining.
First Impressions
Initially, I was drawn in by the promise of an OP MC with a supercharged growth rate. The setup, being banished after choosing a seemingly useless skill, is a classic isekai trope, but one I enjoy. I wanted to see how this MC would defy expectations and prove everyone wrong.
What Works Well
The accelerated growth aspect is definitely a draw. I appreciate that the author shows the MC and his companion actually growing in power, instead of starting out ridiculously strong. It makes the power-ups feel earned, even if they are happening at an accelerated rate. I also found the dynamic between the main couple refreshing. It's a genuine romance without the usual harem antics, which is a welcome change of pace in this genre. The fact that they can communicate like normal people, without constant misunderstandings, is a huge plus in my book. The world-building, while not groundbreaking, is solid enough to keep me invested. I particularly liked the integration of modern science with the magic system, adding a unique twist to the familiar fantasy setting.
Areas of Concern
However, the characters' decision-making can be frustrating. I found myself questioning their logic at times, especially when it came to assessing threats and responding appropriately. There were moments where their actions seemed overly arrogant or just plain unwise, undermining their OP status. The MC's reluctance to level up certain skills, despite having a growth cheat, also felt inconsistent and a missed opportunity. It's like he's actively avoiding becoming even more powerful, which doesn't quite align with the premise.
⚠️ Spoiler Warning
Some readers might find the couple's reaction to being wronged a bit extreme. Demolishing an entire country out of spite is definitely a choice, and one that might not sit well with everyone.
Final Verdict
"I Was Judged As Jobless..." is a decent time-killer if you're looking for a light, easy read with an OP MC and a focus on romance. Just don't expect a masterpiece. The inconsistent character logic and occasional plot contrivances prevent it from reaching its full potential. It's a fun, flawed novel that I'd recommend if you're in the mood for some junk food for your brain, but don't go in expecting a gourmet meal.
