My Thoughts on I Supported My Fiancé for 10 Years After He Said, ‘Let’s Get Married When I Succeed,’ but When He Finally Did, He Dumped Me. By the Way, I’m a Witch and Turning 30 Next Year!!
First Impressions
Okay, that title is a lot, but it definitely grabbed my attention. The premise is pretty straightforward: our protagonist gets dumped after a decade of supporting her fiancé's dreams. Ouch. But, she's a witch! And turning 30! So, you know, time for a magical glow-up and some well-deserved self-discovery. It promises a blend of fantasy, romance, and slice-of-life, which is right up my alley.
What Works Well
This novel excels as a light and breezy read. The plot moves along at a satisfying pace, and it's easy to get invested in the protagonist's journey. I particularly appreciate the focus on a protagonist in her late 20s/early 30s. It's refreshing to see characters navigating life's challenges at a slightly later stage than the typical shoujo lead. The fact that the leads aren’t complex characters made it all the more enjoyable. It's nice to just sit back and enjoy a story without getting bogged down in intricate backstories or morally grey areas.
Areas of Concern
If I had one minor quibble, it would be that the ex-fiancé and the saintess are apparently extremely irritating. I'm hoping their appearances are kept to a minimum because a truly awful antagonist can make or break a story for me. I am hoping to see the protagonist get her revenge on them.
Final Verdict
Overall, I Supported My Fiancé for 10 Years After He Said, ‘Let’s Get Married When I Succeed,’ but When He Finally Did, He Dumped Me. By the Way, I’m a Witch and Turning 30 Next Year!! is shaping up to be a fun and satisfying read. If you're looking for something light, enjoyable, and featuring a protagonist who's ready to take charge of her life, I'd definitely recommend giving this one a try. Just be prepared to possibly grit your teeth at the villains!
