My Thoughts on I Started Farming in the Countryside After I Divorced
"I Started Farming in the Countryside After I Divorced" promised a fresh start and a peaceful life, and while parts of it delivered, I walked away with mixed feelings. It wasn't a terrible read, but neither was it one that completely captivated me.
First Impressions
The initial premise definitely grabbed my attention. The idea of a divorced protagonist escaping to the countryside to start a new life was appealing, and the story dives right into the divorce and relocation, which I appreciated. I was ready for some rural bliss and character development.
What Works Well
The countryside setting is undeniably charming. I enjoyed the descriptions of farm life and the slow pace of the story. The relationship between the MC and ML has its moments, and it's nice to see a couple who are, for the most part, mature and capable. The author clearly intended to deliver a fluffy and heartwarming story, and at times, it succeeds. I also found the initial plot of running away and divorce very interesting.
Areas of Concern
However, I found myself getting bogged down by the interpersonal drama. While some conflict is necessary, it felt like the story became overly reliant on miscommunications and secrets between the main characters. This trope, of withholding information to "protect" your partner, grew tiresome and detracted from my enjoyment. I also went in expecting more focus on the farming aspect and live streaming, but these elements seemed secondary to the relationship drama. The characterization felt somewhat shallow, and I didn't always feel invested in the supporting characters.
Final Verdict
Ultimately, "I Started Farming in the Countryside After I Divorced" is a decent read if you're looking for something light and undemanding. However, don't expect a deep dive into farming or groundbreaking character development. It's a passable story with some cute moments, but the excessive drama and shallow characterization prevent it from reaching its full potential. I'd recommend it with reservations – perhaps give it a try and see if it clicks with you, but don't be surprised if you find yourself taking breaks along the way.
