My Thoughts on I Rely On Selling Meng To Upgrade
First Impressions
"I Rely On Selling Meng To Upgrade" definitely had me intrigued from the start. The premise of a cute panda MC relying on "meng" (basically, being adorable) to level up in a futuristic world? It's undeniably unique. I was expecting a fluffy, lighthearted read, and for the most part, that's what I got. The initial chapters were definitely engaging, drawing me into the world and introducing the quirky concept.
What Works Well
The story is undoubtedly entertaining. The "selling meng" aspect is played up for comedic effect, and I found myself chuckling at the reactions of those around the MC. The contrast between his adorable exterior and his surprising combat abilities also provides some great moments. A lot of readers seem to enjoy the side characters, and I agree, they add a lot of depth to the story. The world-building, while not perfect, is interesting, and the way the MC and ML work together to improve the lives of mutant beasts is a nice touch. I can definitely see why so many find this novel to be a fun and fluffy escape.
Areas of Concern
While the novel has its strengths, I did find some aspects a bit lacking. Several readers mentioned the romance feeling underdeveloped, and I have to agree. While the MC and ML are cute together, their relationship could have been explored in more depth. Also, the fact that the MC remains a panda for almost the entire story might not be for everyone. Some might find it a bit strange that the ML falls in love with a panda, even if he's a super-powered, intelligent one. The plot can also feel repetitive at times, with the MC constantly selling meng and leveling up, which might lead to some boredom.
⚠️ Spoiler Warning
Okay, here's where we get into spoiler territory. Apparently, the MC only transforms into a human at the very end, during the wedding! Also, it's revealed that he was originally an immortal cultivator who reincarnated as a panda to protect his kind. And, if you're curious about the future of the MC and ML, they end up having six panda cubs!
Final Verdict
Overall, I'd say "I Rely On Selling Meng To Upgrade" is a decent read if you're looking for something light, fluffy, and a bit out there. While it might not be a masterpiece of romance or world-building, it's definitely entertaining and offers a unique premise. If you're willing to embrace the absurdity and enjoy the "meng," you'll probably have a good time. I'd give it a solid 3.5 out of 5 stars.
