My Thoughts on First Battlefield Commander!
Okay, let's dive into "First Battlefield Commander!" After spending some time with this story, I've got some thoughts. It's definitely a unique blend of genres, throwing action, comedy, martial arts, mecha, and school life into a single pot. The result is interesting, to say the least.
First Impressions
My first impression was that this story has a strong, confident protagonist. Lian Sheng's journey from the distant past to a sci-fi military academy is certainly a hook. I immediately liked the set up and was excited to see where it went. It also seems the translation is well-done.
What Works Well
The battles are a definite highlight. The author does a solid job of creating twists and turns, so you're never quite sure who's going to come out on top. The MC is also a lot of fun to watch. Her massive ego, coupled with her genuine capability, makes for some hilarious and engaging moments. I also appreciate that the story isn't afraid to let her lose sometimes, which keeps things unpredictable.
Areas of Concern
While I enjoyed many aspects, I do have some reservations. I felt that the ending was a bit anticlimactic. The romance, in particular, felt rushed and underdeveloped, almost like an afterthought tacked onto the extras. I think there was a missed opportunity to explore that aspect of the story more fully.
⚠️ Spoiler Warning
Okay, here be dragons! If you haven't finished the story, you might want to skip this section.
I do have to say that the fate of the original Lian Sheng in the interstellar era is a bit unsettling. The story doesn't really address what happened to her, which left me feeling a bit uneasy. Transmigration stories always bring up interesting questions about identity and the original inhabitant of the body, and this one didn't quite resolve those questions for me.
Final Verdict
Overall, "First Battlefield Commander!" is an enjoyable read, especially if you're looking for a fun, action-packed story with a strong female lead. While it has some flaws, particularly in its ending and handling of certain plot points, the engaging battles and charismatic protagonist make it worth checking out. I'd give it a solid 3.5/5. It's a fun ride, just don't expect a deeply profound or perfectly polished experience.
