Description

Kunieda Kei is a popular, young TV announcer whose public and private personas are so different, they might be called extreme. Outside he is the picture of perfection, affectionately nicknamed “The Prince.” Inside he is constantly cursing at all of the incompetence around him. Of course, no one knows this secret of his. One day, Kei meets the stop motion animation artist Tsuzuki Ushio for a work assignment and unfortunately runs into him later while he’s in “off mode.” Luckily Tsuzuki doesn’t recognize him in his worn-out sweats and a facemask, but as compensation for injuring Tsuzuki’s arm, Kei gets roped into helping out with his work… Volume 1: Yes, No, or Maybe Half?Volume 2: Center of the WorldVolume 3: Where Home is

Yes, No, or Maybe Half? Review & Spoilers - Novel Translator

## My Thoughts on Yes, No, or Maybe Half? "Yes, No, or Maybe Half?" is a novel that really surprised me. Going in, I wasn't sure what to expect, but I quickly found myself drawn into the complex world of Kuneida Kei and his journey of self-acceptance. This story is a heartwarming exploration of duality, romance, and the challenges of navigating public and private personas. ### First Impressions Initially, the premise of a protagonist leading a double life – a charming public figure and a foul-mouthed, honest individual behind closed doors – intrigued me. I'm always drawn to stories that explore the complexities of human nature and the masks we wear. The first few chapters immediately hooked me, and I was eager to see how Kei would reconcile these two sides of himself. ### What Works Well The strength of this novel lies in its characters and their development. Kei is wonderfully flawed and relatable, and his internal struggles resonated with me. I found myself empathizing with his desire to be accepted for who he truly is, both the "Prince" and the "brat." The relationship between Kei and Ushio is a highlight, and it's incredibly heartwarming to see Ushio embrace all facets of Kei's personality. Their banter is funny, their affection is sweet, and their growth as individuals and as a couple is genuinely moving. I also appreciated the author's attention to detail in fleshing out the supporting characters and creating a realistic and engaging modern setting. The exploration of the dynamics between the leads is also remarkably well done, showing their growth as a couple in a detailed way that I haven't found in other novels. ### Areas of Concern While I thoroughly enjoyed the novel, there were a few elements that gave me pause. While I am personally okay with it, I have to acknowledge that some readers may find certain scenes problematic. I encourage readers to proceed with caution and be aware of potentially triggering content. ### ⚠️ Spoiler Warning Some reviewers mentioned that Kei experiences an "almost cheating" situation and questions whether his life had been wrong. ### Final Verdict Overall, "Yes, No, or Maybe Half?" is a gem of a novel that I would highly recommend to fans of adult romance and yaoi. It's a heartwarming, funny, and thought-provoking story that explores the complexities of identity, love, and acceptance. Despite a few minor drawbacks, the compelling characters, engaging plot, and heartfelt romance make this a truly memorable read. I'm excited to see the upcoming anime adaptation and revisit this wonderful world.
