Description

Shin is an assistant director on the popular variety show “Go Go Dash.” He additionally gets placed on a nightly news program produced at the same network and gets to know the sports news anchor, Minagawa Tatsuki. Tatsuki is loud, popular, and has a bold look in his eyes—the type of guy that Shin typically has a hard time getting along with, but for some reason, Shin can’t seem to take his eyes off Tatsuki when he talks, always so vibrant and full of life. Shin has always been happy just working on “GoGo,” the show that he has always loved, with the producer, Sakae, whom he has admired and idolized; however, Tatsuki keeps closing the distance between him and Shin… Volume 1: Side Profiles and IrisesVolume 2: Love Rivals and IrisesVolume 3: Block It Out Note: The Side Profiles series features one couple and the Block It series features a second couple. This set of spinoffs takes place after volume 3 of the main series, “Yes, No, or Maybe Half?” It is recommended that you read the main series first, but it is not strictly necessary.

Side Profiles and Irises ~Yes, No, or Maybe Half? Spinoff~ Review & Spoilers - Novel Translator

## My Thoughts on Side Profiles and Irises ~Yes, No, or Maybe Half? Spinoff~ I dove into "Side Profiles and Irises," the spinoff from "Yes, No, or Maybe Half?," with a mix of excitement and curiosity, and I have to say, I wasn't disappointed. This series carves its own path while staying true to the heart of the original. ### First Impressions Right off the bat, I was drawn into the world of Nawada "Nacchan" Shin and Minagawa Tatsuki. The story primarily focuses on Shin, and I found myself quickly invested in his journey of self-discovery and growth. It's a classic tale of stepping out of someone's shadow, but the author handles it with a delicate touch that feels genuinely human. ### What Works Well The character development is where this novel truly shines. I really appreciate how the author doesn't shy away from portraying vulnerability and pain. Watching the characters grapple with their struggles, and then find the strength to overcome them, is incredibly rewarding. Shin's evolution, in particular, is captivating as he learns to embrace his own directorial style and open himself up to love. Tatsuki, who originated as a side character, is given a chance to truly flourish. I loved seeing his depth explored and how he becomes the catalyst for Shin's transformation. Their interactions are heartwarming, and their chemistry is undeniable. It's a joy to watch their relationship blossom as they learn to support each other through thick and thin. Plus, the occasional cameos from Ushio and Kei are a delightful treat for fans of the main series. ### ⚠️ Spoiler Warning I'm going to briefly touch on the "Block It" series, which is also a spinoff. This series focuses on Souma Sakae and Shitara Sousuke, and it delves into their past and the aftermath of events from "Side Profiles." Be warned, this series is significantly more angsty and explores themes of betrayal, pain, and redemption. It's a heavier read, but the payoff is worth it if you're prepared for the emotional rollercoaster. ### Final Verdict Overall, I highly recommend "Side Profiles and Irises ~Yes, No, or Maybe Half? Spinoff~" to fans of Japanese BL and anyone who enjoys stories with well-developed characters and heartwarming relationships. It's a fun, engaging read with depth and emotional resonance. Just be prepared to have your heartstrings tugged! I'm eagerly awaiting the next installment.
