Tohno Hifumi was summoned to another world to be a Hero for a kingdom. Unknown to the summoners, he’s a person who had restrained his killer instincts with martial arts. Upon arrival, he slaughtered various knights and the mastermind of the event, the King, for kidnapping him to this world. Afraid of letting more people get killed by Hifumi, the Princess–who is the only one to managed to keep her sanity act rationally–let him go free. Thus started Hifumi’s fun life of traveling the world, and unrestrainedly killing any who attempt to get in his way.

## My Thoughts on Summoned Slaughterer
"Summoned Slaughterer" is quite the ride, and not always a smooth one. The premise is intriguing: a martial arts master gets summoned to another world, but instead of being a hero, he's... well, a slaughterer. He has little desire to save the world and more of a craving for a good fight, which can make for a dark but interesting read.
### First Impressions
Initially, I was hooked by the idea of an anti-hero protagonist. So many stories follow the same formula, so a character driven by a primal urge to fight and dominate was a welcome change. The early chapters do a decent job of setting up this world and introducing Hifumi, our protagonist, and his… unique… perspective on things.
### What Works Well
When the story focuses on Hifumi's martial arts prowess and his impact on warfare, it's genuinely entertaining. He brings a modern understanding of tactics to a world that seems surprisingly naive about combat. Some readers noted that the background world-building was well done. The side characters, like the princess and the mage, add some flavor to the story, even if they sometimes fall into predictable tropes.
### Areas of Concern
However, the novel does stumble. The biggest issue, for me, is Hifumi himself. While the concept of an anti-hero is appealing, he often veers into being a flat-out psychopath. The constant killing can become repetitive and, frankly, boring. There were multiple times I felt the story lacked real plot progression, instead relying on endless cycles of fighting and slaughter. The political maneuvering also felt tedious. Furthermore, the world-building, while initially promising, can feel inconsistent, especially when it comes to the other characters' apparent lack of common sense.
### ⚠️ Spoiler Warning
Some readers pointed out that even the ending is unsatisfying, with a time skip that essentially resets the world for another round of killing. This might appeal to some, but it left me feeling like the story lacked any real sense of consequence or growth.
### Final Verdict
"Summoned Slaughterer" is a mixed bag. If you're looking for a morally ambiguous protagonist who enjoys bloodshed, and you don't mind a potentially repetitive plot, you might find something to enjoy here. However, if you prefer nuanced characters, intricate plots, and a sense of purpose beyond senseless violence, this might not be the novel for you. I'm giving it a **3/5**. It has its moments, but ultimately, the flaws overshadow the initial promise.
