This novel tells a love story that surpasses several lives. The male protagonist has loved the female protagonist for thousands of years.

The world is like a landscape that rotates in a sequence of frames. But he is outside that frame, never knowing where he is, what time it is. He only knows that there is someone he must meet in this lifetime.
In the eyes of everyone else, Fu Beichen is a person who genuinely deserves to be “a modest nobleman, gentle as jade”. Whether family background or personal character, everything about him is perfect. Only Fu Beichen himself knows that his soul is not complete.
The shattered and prolonged dream makes Fu Beichen realize that this dream is a desire he does not want to forget, a memory from his previous life. And in that dream is her, who is carved into his bones and engraved in his heart.
Until Cheng Yuanyuan appears, just one glance, and already his heart rises up in great waves.
He would willingly sacrifice his life to save her, would willingly bear all disasters for her.
He uses his gentleness to weave an invisible net and quietly surrounds her life.
“I’ve never kissed anyone else.”
“And I’ve never thought of anyone else.”
“Only you, I want to grow old with.”
Whether in my previous life or this life, I always want to be by your side.

Always By Your Side Review & Spoilers - Novel Translator
## My Thoughts on Always By Your Side
"Always By Your Side" promised a heartwarming story of destined love across lifetimes, and while it delivered on some fronts, it also left me with mixed feelings. The historical romance with a touch of the supernatural is a genre I usually devour, but this one had a few bumps along the way.
### First Impressions
Initially, I was drawn in by the premise of reincarnation and a love that transcends time. The beginning was a little rough due to some translation issues, but once that was resolved, the story became much more engaging. However, I quickly found myself strangely detached from the main couple.
### What Works Well
The author does a good job of creating a generally lighthearted and sweet atmosphere. The concept of karmic cycles bringing lovers together is beautifully explored, and there are moments of genuine tenderness between the main characters. The overarching narrative is also quite interesting, especially as it unveils the mysteries of the characters' past lives and how those past lives have affected the present.
### Areas of Concern
My biggest issue lies with the second male lead, Cheng Bai. His story is incredibly tragic, and I couldn't help but feel that he deserved more than he got. The sacrifices he made for the female lead in a past life, only to be seemingly overlooked in the present, struck a nerve. It's hard to root for the main couple when another character's suffering looms so large. I also struggled to connect with the main couple's relationship. It felt somewhat shallow, built more on past lives than genuine connection in the present.
### ⚠️ Spoiler Warning
If you haven't read the novel yet, be warned that the ending, particularly the extra chapter from Cheng Bai's perspective, is a real tearjerker. Knowing the depth of his sacrifice and the emotional burden he carried for so long made the "happy ending" feel bittersweet, to say the least. It casts a shadow over the main couple's happiness and leaves you questioning whether the right person ended up with the female lead.
### Final Verdict
"Always By Your Side" is a decent read if you're looking for a fluffy romance with a touch of the supernatural. However, be prepared for some potentially frustrating character dynamics and a bittersweet ending that might leave you feeling more sympathy for the second lead than the main couple. Overall, I'd give it a 3 out of 5 stars. It has its moments, but the tragic elements and the somewhat underdeveloped main romance hold it back from being truly great.
