My Thoughts on When I was Transferred to Another World, I Became the Adjutant of a Lady Commander and Beared the Brunt of a L*stful Harem! (WN)
First Impressions
Okay, let's dive into "When I was Transferred to Another World, I Became the Adjutant of a Lady Commander and Beared the Brunt of a L*stful Harem! (WN)" – quite the title, right? I went in expecting a blend of action, ecchi, and some strategic army building, given the tags. The initial chapters definitely set the stage for a standard isekai adventure, but with a focus on the protagonist's role as an adjutant.
What Works Well
Honestly, the biggest draw for me was the potential for the relationship between the protagonist and Lady Commander Lucy. She's a well-written character, and I found myself invested in her development early on. I was initially excited to see how Yuushin would use his "modern" knowledge to aid her, and the premise of him showing off war tactics he learned in his original world to help Lucy did hold some promise. The idea of army building also intrigued me, as I'm always a fan of seeing a protagonist strategically build up forces.
Areas of Concern
Unfortunately, I did find some aspects of the story disappointing. The protagonist, Yuushin, left a lot to be desired. While he isn't the typical beta-wuss, his motivations and internal monologue felt somewhat off-putting. His constant scheming and viewing Lucy as a tool to be used and discarded made it difficult to root for him. I was hoping for a clever tactician, but his strategies seemed rather basic, like suggesting flanking maneuvers. He didn't seem to bring anything new to the table. The world-building also felt a bit generic, with the usual goblins and ogres, and I was left wanting more depth and detail in the setting.
Final Verdict
Overall, "When I was Transferred to Another World, I Became the Adjutant of a Lady Commander and Beared the Brunt of a L*stful Harem! (WN)" has some potential, particularly with the character of Lucy. However, the protagonist's unlikable personality and the lack of originality in the world-building held it back from being a truly enjoyable read for me. While the harem and ecchi elements are present, they didn't quite elevate the story enough to overcome its shortcomings. It's an okay read if you're looking for something light and don't mind the protagonist's flaws, but I wouldn't consider it a must-read.
