My Thoughts on The Most Heretical Last Boss Queen Who Will Become the Source of Tragedy Will Devote Herself for the Sake of the People
This title is a mouthful, and diving into the story has been a bit of a mixed bag for me. "The Most Heretical Last Boss Queen..." presents the familiar premise of a reincarnation into an otome game as the villainess, but with a twist: our protagonist is determined to avert tragedy and actually help people.
First Impressions
Initially, I was drawn in by the concept of a villainess actively trying to be good. It's a fun subversion of the usual trope, and the idea of seeing the world through the eyes of someone who's supposed to be feared is intriguing. The cover art definitely played a part in piquing my interest too!
What Works Well
I appreciate the focus on character development, especially how the protagonist's past life influences her actions and decisions. I also enjoyed the side characters having their own backstories and motivations, making them feel more than just cardboard cutouts. The protagonist's denseness regarding her own influence and the affections of those around her can be frustrating at times. Also, the writing style can get confusing, with multiple POVs and anaphoras making it hard to follow the plot.
