My Thoughts on The Martial Arts World is Full of Experts
This novel was a delightful surprise! I went in expecting a standard martial arts story, but what I found was a charming and funny tale with a focus on character dynamics and sweet romance.
First Impressions
Initially, I was a little unsure. The beginning felt a bit slow, with what seemed like a lot of "melon" or gossip, and the MC's ability to read minds felt almost...underwhelming. However, I quickly realized that this wasn't a story about an overpowered protagonist dominating the world. Instead, it's a character-driven narrative, and once I adjusted my expectations, I was hooked.
What Works Well
The characters are definitely the highlight. The MC is an adorable young master who, while not the strongest martial artist, is determined to revitalize his dilapidated sect. His heart is in the right place, and his interactions are genuinely endearing. The ML, initially appearing as a stoic and capable type, turns out to be adorably awkward and oblivious, creating a wonderful dynamic with the MC. Their romance is slow-burn and natural, filled with sweet moments that made me smile. I also appreciated the distinct personalities of the side characters and the hidden storylines woven throughout the main plot. The world itself, while not the primary focus, is interesting enough to keep you engaged. The translation is also excellent, which always makes a huge difference in my enjoyment of a web novel.
Areas of Concern
If I had to point out any weaknesses, it would be that the story could have benefited from more "fluff." I would have loved to see more slice-of-life moments, like the sect taking on odd jobs or encountering unrelated cases, to further flesh out the world and relationships. Also, the ending felt a little rushed, with the villain's resolution happening rather quickly. A few of the side couple's relationships could have been explored a little more deeply as well.
⚠️ Spoiler Warning
Some readers might be left wondering about the transmigrator mystery and the specifics of the protagonist's golden finger. Also, the fate of Jianyun and Tingting's escape from marriage is left ambiguous.
Final Verdict
Despite a few minor pacing issues, The Martial Arts World is Full of Experts is an enjoyable and heartwarming read. It's perfect if you're looking for a lighthearted story with engaging characters, sweet romance, and plenty of humor. While it might not be a groundbreaking wuxia epic, it's a delightful way to spend your time, and I'll definitely be rereading it in the future.
